The Vietnamese legislative body gives special priority to developing its friendship with the European Parliament (EP).

The statemend was made by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung at an October 29 reception in Hanoi for a visiting European Parliamentarian delegation led by Committee for Southeast Asia and ASEAN Relations Chairman Werner Largen.

Chairman Hung expressed his pleasure at the increasing development of the relations between the NA of Vietnam and the EP in such fields as politics, trade and investment.

The NA chief told his guest that he hopes the bilateral meetings between the EP delegation and Vietnamese agencies will help deepen mutual understanding and strengthen relations between the Vietnamese legislature and the EP.

The EP attaches importance to boosting ties with the Vietnamese NA, Chairman Werner Largen affirmed.

The two sides have exchanged delegations and collaborated at multilateral forums, and have shared experience in legislation, according to Largen, who added that he hopes the two sides will continue to strengthen co-operative activities, especially in law building and international integration.

Chairman Hung also briefed his guest of the Constitution revision in Vietnam.
