Ha Long Bay tourists to pay more next year

The People’s Council of Quang Ninh Province has approved an increase in the price of tickets for travellers to Ha Long Bay from January 1, 2014.

The new cost will be a maximum of VND150,000 (USD7.14) per person for day tickets instead of the current VND80,000 and VND130,000, while the price for night tickets will depend on the amount of time tourists stay at the bay; VND200,000 per person for one night, VND350,000 per person for two nights and VND400,000 for three nights.

The council also agreed on charging travellers to Bai Tu Long Bay. Those tickets will be VND100,000 per person from 6:30 a.m to 18:30 p.m. The fees will be VND100,000 for the one-night stay per person, VND300,000 for two nights and VND350,000 for three nights.

Exemptions will to those who contributed to the national revolutions, and a 50% discount for children under 15 as well as Vietnamese citizens aged from 60 years and the disabled.

With the ticket rise, Ha Long Bay’s revenues from fees is expected to reach VND600 billion (USD28.5 million) instead of the expected VND200 billion (USD9.5 million) this year.
